Launched on 16 July 2008, this is the first Ginger property in the capital. A combined effort of Taj's Ginger Hotels and The Indian Railways, Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas is a
contemporary, 109-room, budget hotel right Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas offers a in the heart of the city, connected by rail and the Delhi Metro.
The Indian Railways issued a lease contract to Roots Corporation Limited (RCL) in January 2007 for the next 15 years, during which this new entity will be run and managed by Ginger. Within a period of nine months, the entire property has been stripped to its shell and renovated and redesigned by RCL to accommodate 7 floors of 16 rooms each. An investment of Rs. 10.5 crore has been made to provide guests with theme rooms, LCD televisions, air conditioning, posture-pedic mattresses, anti allergy pillows, tropical duvets, a wi-fi lobby, a mini-bar in every room and other basic self-service facilities.
In line with Ginger's positioning, Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas offers more than just basic facilities at an average tariff of Rs. 999 to Rs. 1199. For travellers in transit, four bedded rooms are also available with each bed costing Rs. 250 for a night.
The hotel has franchised the F&B aspect; a 24-hour service well within budget. "Comesum is known for its service and quality and our guests can easily avail this facility at any time of the day. They offer an elaborate food menu and meal combinations," said Sunil Pathania, unit manager, Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas.
The hotel caters to a traveller's needs through Galgotia's book store that sells maps and travel guides; a traveWesk arranges local travel tours and a 24x7 Apollo pharmacy is next on the cards.
While Ginger Delhi is the group's only property serving rail travellers, with the opening of a Ginger in Goa very recently, the group has 14 hotels across the country. Plans for further expansion are in the pipeline and work will commence shortly in Ludhiana. Guwahati, Jamshedpur, Mangalore. Ahmedabad and Pune.
Seeing the success of the Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas, Indian Railways is keen to renovate its Yatri Niwas at Howrah and the Bengal Nagar Railway group (BNR hotels) hotels at Ranchi.
